Age Range: 13+ Years
Beau is a very timid fellow, not really a lap cat. Even after 14 years, he still rarely sits on my lap. I’ve tried very hard to get him to let me brush and pet him. He will occasionally let me, and even relax enough for a gentle massage, but it takes a lot of patience and persistence to gain his trust.
Unfortunately, we are now in a situation where we are not able take care of him in the way he needs. We just found out that he has a thyroid condition requiring medication twice a day for the rest of his life. Also, due to a family situation, I now have a second cat to take care of. It’s a difficult decision, but I think Beau would be better off in a quiet home where he is the only pet, and with someone who is available, and can afford to give him the attention and care he needs in the latter part of his life.
Beau has always been an indoor & outdoor cat, and has not been using a litter box, even though one has always been available. He enjoys his freedom to come and go, but as he gets older, may successfully transition to being an indoor only cat. He has used a litter box in the past, so he should be able to adjust without too much trouble.
I know we may not be able to rehome him, and will do our best to take care of him if we are not able to, but I’m hoping there may be someone out there who might want a friend to take of who will occasionally love you back. Please consider it. Thank you.
